MDS is the only place that gives you real world experience while you’re studying. It’s an intense environment that properly sets you to thrive in the industry.

As a Pacific student, I felt encouraged to explore my identity in my work.. It wasn’t always easy - I didn’t always know how to express my culture visually - but that challenge helped me grow. It made me dig deeper, reconnect with my family, and build a stronger sense of who I am.

The most valuable part of my time at Media Design School wasn’t just learning about AI – it was learning how to apply it. In the Bachelor of Software Engineering (AI), I gained crucial technical skills, like building AI models, developing computer vision systems, and understanding natural language processing. But MDS did something unique: every project was focused on solving real-world problems, which taught me to think beyond code and algorithms. We weren’t just learning theory; we were building solutions.

If you know you want to work in VFX, MDS is a no-brainer. They'll set you up with all the tools you need to springboard into the industry and you'll make so many friends and connections along the way.

My favourite part of studying at MDS was its practical approach and vibrant community. With ample resources and diverse perspectives, I thrived in an environment where skill exchange and collaboration were the norm.

The most valuable things I learnt during my time in the Bachelor of Software Engineering programme were mindset and patterns. Knowing how to think when it comes to designing and implementing game systems armed me for the problems I tackled at both my software job and Mytona.

Most students worry about how big the jump from study to the industry will be, but we tend to forget that at Media Design School we've all been practicing as designers since the day we started our studies.

Studying at MDS prepared me for the industry entirely. MDS's project-based learning in a design studio setting really represents the type of collaborative work environment I went into.
