Gaming Graduates Set to Release ‘Sky Noon’ Later This Year

New Zealand homegrown games studio, Lunar Rooster, will be releasing ‘Sky Noon’ to Steam later this year.

Lunar Rooster was established as part of the third year Game Development programme at Media Design School in 2016, and is comprised of former students Alex Hodgson, Chris Cullen, Craig Taylor and Nathan Minifie. It is a Western-themed first-person multiplayer shooter with brawler mechanics in which players are required to use all the tools at their disposal to keep their footing on ‘The Floating Frontier’.

In 2017, Sky Noon became the first New Zealand title to be selected as a finalist in the Gamer’s Voice Awards at South by Southwest (SXSW), and was awarded the Runner Up Prize in the Kiwi Game Starter competition at the New Zealand Game Developers Conference. In August 2017, Lunar Rooster were also awarded an Unreal Development Grant by Epic Games.

As you can imagine, Sky Noon has carved itself quite the space of prestige within the gaming community. They continued development of the game and won a number of awards – before being picked up by publisher Reverb Triple XP (who are responsible for publishing major titles such as Player Unknown Battlegrounds and Rocket League).

Now, just over a year later, they are on the cusp of Steam release (date to be announced). Keep up to date with Lunar Rooster across their social channels, and be the first to know when you can play this gem with your friends!
