Media Design School launches new Agile Mindset microcredential

Our Agile Mindset micro-credential builds on the underlying agile values and principles of the Agile Manifesto, introducing students not only to flexible and responsive approaches to develop new products and services, but also how, through adopting agile an mindset and culture, organisations can transform themselves to become more creative, responsive and innovative.

While most consider “agile” to mean “to move with quick and easy grace”, it can also mean to “have a quick, resourceful and adaptable character”.

Media Design School’s Agile Mindset micro-credential leans into this, exploring how the underlying values and principles of agile development approaches can be applied beyond specific methodologies (such as Scrum and Kanban) to transform organisational mindsets, cultures and leadership.

In a rapidly changing world, it's more important than ever for organisations to improve their responsiveness and flexibility in order to deliver value and gain competitive advantage. In addition to introducing students to agile development approaches for new products, services and systems, our Agile Mindset micro-credential explores agile organisational structures and leadership, involving cross-functional teams and squads – that stand in contrast to traditional top-down hierarchical structures.

By adopting agile at scale, organisations are able to make the necessary mindset and cultural shift to embrace change, collaboration, learning and ambiguity. Agile teams and organisations are able to look at environments and circumstances in new and different ways, seeing change not as an obstacle but as an opportunity, with an emphasis on consistent improvement, innovation and growth.

Bear in mind that becoming an agile organisation does not happen overnight. Developing an agile mindset and culture across an organisation is a journey that will present unique and varying challenges for different organisations. In this micro-credential, students examine their current organisational culture as their starting point, and then develop a specific agile transformation roadmap for their organisation.

After studying Media Design School’s Agile Mindset micro-credential, you will be able to apply what you learn to your own organisational situations, critically evaluating the suitability of adopting agile approaches, mindsets, cultures and leadership across projects, teams and your entire organisation. As such, it is suitable for anyone in any organisation undergoing transformation and/or developing new products, services or systems. By adopting an agile mindset and culture, you and your organisation can become more creative, innovative and responsive to change.
