Alexa O'Brien - Media Design School at Strayer

Alexa teaches across Software Engineering and Art papers across the Game Development courses and regularly mentors teams as they work in production to bring their projects to life! She is a passionate developer with a background in application development, technical art, and gameplay programming.

With a wide range of experience in Unity, Godot, and Unreal, Alexa loves helping students realise their own creative visions - and empowering them to solve the interwoven and human problems of making delightful experiences!

Alexa launched her first, self-taught Unity game in 2014 to Kongregate, and has been working in and around games since then!

She has worked on a variety of unlaunched and small titles over the years, but the majority of her career has been spent working on games-adjacent products: automotive HMI design on novel displays with PureDepth & Aptiv and then managing a small company contracting for CES, as well as fitness application design & development with Fisher & Paykel Technologies on novel hardware.

Beyond her work in industry she's spent a substantial amount of time as an educator, helping guide students on the road of becoming proficient in games!
