Rick Kaplan

Rick Kaplan serves as the Senior Vice President of Media Design School at Strayer. Both a director and producer, Rick brings more than two decades of experience in documentary and branded storytelling.

Before joining Strategic Education, Inc (SEI), Rick founded Sherpa Productions, a New York–based company recognised for its award-winning work with clients such as NASA, Ford Motor Company, American Express, JetBlue Airlines, and WeWork. Earlier in his career, he worked with Florentine Films under acclaimed documentarian Ken Burns, contributing to the PBS series JAZZ and Mark Twain. Rick also created and directed Barnwood Builders, a national primetime series for Discovery Channel that aired for 19 seasons and continues to stream on HBO Max. He earned his post-graduate degree from The Juilliard School and has led film projects across five continents and more than 40 U.S. states and territories.
