The Dr Grordbort Film Premiere in Auckland!

We premiere the latest short film from Media Design School based on the sci-fi world of Dr Grordbort created by writer and artist Greg Broadmore from Weta Workshop in Auckland at the Academy Cinema. The live action/CGI film was created by 11 students over 22 weeks under the direction of 3D animation program leader James Cunningham.

Now, I made a dinky little thing here

Where I asked people questions about the world of Dr Grordbort. Talking with Greg I have the great idea to try this out on him! The question he got?

If you could play God and create a venusian beast, what would you call it?

Silly question for the man who's done it all!

Greg Broadmore is the creator of the Dr Grordbort's World and was kind enough to lend his eye, his ear and a fair bit of his time to help cultivate and support this creative project. I ask Greg about the decision to hand over his work to students.
Nervous? He was. I guess he wouldn't be normal if he wasn't. Yet he took the leap based on the excitement he felt about the talent in the NZ Film industry and off of seeing Rotting Hill - the Advanced 3D production also directed by James Cunningham made prior to Dr Grordbort presents: The Deadliest Game.

Although Broadmore insists he "Just got to sit around really. I did nothing, they did all the work!"  The students who worked on the project all agree it was an honour to work with Broadmore and found him generous with his time and help, often helping to iron out kinks in the concept drawings and offering input.

Broadmore was pleased with the outcome "To pull off that level of Visual Effects on virtually no budget and in that timeframe was impressive!" and says that in the works for Dr Grordbort is a feature length film and game! Also, a new book 'Triumph' to be released soon. Don't forget to go to our facebook competition here to win some incredible Dr Grordbort prizes once you've watched!

Ladies and Gentlemen! We present to you, in all it's glory, the latest Advanced 3D production Dr Grordbort Presents: The Deadliest Game.
