Dr. Jo Diamond
Māori Student Liaison Advisor
Dr Diamond has extensive knowledge and expertise in Māori and other Indigenous cultures, having published and taught extensively in this field. Her role at Media Design School encourages increased Māori cultural awareness and involvement amongst current and prospective students as well as staff.
Dr Diamond completed her PhD on the subject of Trans-Tasman Māori culture, women and weaving at the Australian National University in Canberra. She was the sole Senior Lecturer of Māori and other Indigenous Art History for 12 years at the University of Canterbury and, concurrently, New Zealand Fulbright Lecturer of a sophomore class in Anthropology and Indigenous Art at Georgetown University, Washington DC in 2008. More recently her academic involvement has included teaching at the Wānanga o Aotearoa for He Waka Hiringa, a Masters level Degree in Applied Indigenous Knowledge.
