About Your Fees

Everything you need to know about fee payments and conditions.

Fees may be paid by cash, EFTPOS, cheque or credit card (Visa or Mastercard only)
Fees are inclusive of Compulsory Course Costs and GST (the NZ Goods and Services Tax - 15% subject to change)
Fees are subject to change without notice. The applicable fee is the one published at the time of your payment of the Registration Fee
By registering for a programme at Media Design School, you accept full responsibility for paying your fees by the due date. Once the first 8 days of your course has been completed, you will be liable for the full payment of your fees, as per your invoice previously received. This is regardless of whether or not you complete your qualification.
Students suspended, expelled or de-registered from their studies as a result of not abiding by the School’s Behaviour and Performance Code (including not meeting financial obligations), or for other reasons, are still liable for payment of their full fees.

Specific Information for International Students

As an International student, you will need to pay the full course fee before commencing study, see below:

Registration fee: Your registration fee is NZD$500, and must be paid to the school by the due date in order to be registered for your course. We can’t guarantee or hold places for successful applicants if you’ve haven’t paid this fee.
Full payment: Your full fees are due no later than six weeks prior to the start of your course. If you’ve been accepted to Media Design School with less than six weeks before the course start date, full payment must be made immediately unless otherwise stated and approved.
Fees cannot be paid in instalments, and you’re responsible for any bank transfer fees or charges.

Specific Information for Domestic Students

Registration fee: Your non-refundable Registration Fee is NZD$250, and must be paid to the school by the due date in order for you to be registered for your course. We can’t guarantee or hold places for successful applicants if you’ve haven’t paid this fee. NB: The Registration Fee cannot be paid by Student Loan.

Course Related Costs

There are some costs that aren’t covered by Media Design School – such as for a backup hard drive or storage system for your work. We advise that you do have one, as we’d hate for you to lose your work due to an unforeseen mishap. External hard drives can cost up to $200, and this kind of cost is something that you can cover by applying for Course Related Costs through StudyLink. You can apply for Course Related Costs here.

Payment by Student Loans

Domestic students are generally able to access a student loan through StudyLink to pay the fees for their qualification. If you intend to apply for a StudyLink student loan, you’ll need to do so immediately upon receiving your acceptance letter from Media Design School, or at least two weeks prior to the qualification commencing. Here’s how you do it: when you received your acceptance letter (you will be notified by email and by mail) contact StudyLink immediately and supply them with your details and your student ID number (included in the acceptance pack).
