Course Description

Our Diploma in Digital Creativity is a multidisciplinary digital design programme that takes your existing talent and passion in digital media, and channels it into a range of creative design fields. This purpose-built qualification combines essential design fundamentals with modern visual media projects including web design, graphics, 3D modelling, advertising, and visual effects. This is a great start-up course to introduce you to a wide range of digital skills.

In addition to building your digital creativity, design knowledge and skills across print, web, 3D and video projects, you’ll study important topics that will set you up with a great start to your budding creative career. These include communicating a message and understanding briefs, critiquing work, branding, project-management skills, and presentation skills.
Once you’ve finished our hands-on digital creativity programme, you’ll have the experience and knowledge in a range of design fields that will help you to decide on your future area of specialisation. This qualification is an ideal and direct pathway into our Bachelor of Art and Design (3D Animation and Visual Effects).
 

Course Breakdown

Graphic Design, 3D Design Weeks 1-13

After a week’s introduction period, you’ll dive straight into the worlds of Photoshop and Illustrator, and then its 6 weeks of 3D design, where you will learn about character design and model a 3D character.

Web Design and Motion Graphics Weeks 14-20

You’ll be learning about designing and producing content for web media, incorporating animation, audio and video.

Digital Video Weeks 21-26

Explore the world of digital video planning, capturing and editing. Week 26 gives you the chance to brush up on the skills you’ve learnt so far, ready for your upcoming projects.

Personal and Group Projects Weeks 27-36

Over three weeks you’ll create an individual digital design project or cultural design project. Then get ready for the final countdown starting in week 30 with a team project. You have seven weeks to design and produce a digital communication to meet a brief with the others in your group. You’ll finish the course with an amazing portfolio, showcasing all your creative projects.

Entry Requirements

Age:

Minimum 16 years (domestic) and 18 years (international).

Prerequisites:

The qualification is open to those who can provide a creative portfolio or evidence to support their creative ambitions. Please note the support references must show that the applicant is ready to study at a tertiary level and the personal statement must show that the applicant understands the time commitment of the course. Applicants must also be able to show they have a sufficient level of practical English in written, oral and comprehension form, as indicated by a minimum IELTS score of 5 or equivalent.


Portfolio Requirements:

The portfolio must consist of sketches, paintings, illustrations or drawings, as well as digital imagery such as animations or other computer generated artwork.
