Please let us introduce a brand new contributor on our blog.

Allen Huang is no ordinary graduate from Media Design School. In fact he almost was a three-time graduate from the school. He is now a seasoned professional in the Advertising Industry and his career has recently rocket-launched to new heights when he became a Digital Art Director at Colenso-BBDO.

Vodafone Campaign

Allen enrolled on a few qualifications at Media Design School (New Media - now Digital Media, Creative Advertising, and Game Development - Art Stream) and started in the Creative Industries as a “tea-bitch”/junior designer for OgilvyMetro (now known as Redworks). He admits having chosen this particular industry because “it requires minimal mathematics and sciences skills and no need of wearing a corporate attire whatsoever!”

He now spends his days working with a copywriter partner, “day dreaming of ideas, concepts, and ads.” Then once approved by the client, they help visualise, create and produce those ideas with the help of other creative people such as photographers or web developers.

Doesn’t this sound like an awesome job? It does to me.

About blogs...

He has no interest at all in “blogging to sell”, but more to inform, get people thinking, inspire, and share experience. Allen says, “I tend to like blogs that are more strongly opinionated and personalized, and not so much thinly veiled PR junk trying to sell me products.” So we are looking forward to having him on board!

A keen blog reader himself (thanks to GoogleReader through which he scans hundreds of blog posts a day from Gizmondo, Mashable, Perez Hilton, etc…), Allen is going to be a great addition to our team of bloggers, bringing a fun and critical insight from his perspective in the Industry.

What inspires him?

Allen admits to be inspired by “people who not have the creativity but the business nous and understanding to create products and works that are enjoyed and celebrated by people all over the world”, the likes of Steve  Jobs, Shigeru Miyamoto, James Cameron (who else!). He adds, “I’m also a bit of a Japan-o-phile and like to visit Tokyo as often as possible to soak in the weird bizarre culture of the Otaku.”

But really, what gets him up every morning to go to work… well, “the blissful yet annoying alarm tone of phone.”

Deserted Island anyone?

When asked what he would bring along on a deserted island if he could, Allen answers, “friends who are competent in the arts of fishing, building a house and lighting a fire. I am all about utilising the talents of others to build a better tomorrow.”

Well, let’s say that Allen is already an inspiration to us on the blog and we cannot wait to read some of his insightful yet witty blog posts in the near future.
