Graduate turns graphic design into fashion design
A common theme among Media Design School graduates – perhaps because they’re generally such passionate and driven people – is to start up their own companies.
I’m not talking about creating companies to base freelance work off (and to secure some fairly attractive IRD perks) but rather companies that have a tangible product. That people see, touch and hopefully, buy.

Cool as Craft
Jessica Whiting likes to keep busy, and since graduating from Media Design School with a Diploma of Graphic Design she has certainly been doing that.
Along with organising the inaugural Auckland Art & Craft Fair and finishing the design and layout of a new sock knitting book Blendy Knits Jessica has launched a brand new website, Foxes.

Siggraph success for Media Design School tutor
New Zealand students looking for the best animation school need look no further than Media Design School, where 3D Course Leader James Cunningham has recently scooped the prestigious SIGGRAPH Jury Award for his stunning CGI drama Poppy at the Electronic Theatre in SIGGRAPH 2010’s Computer Animation Festival. Poppy is the first ever New Zealand short film to receive a SIGGRAPH award.

Using social media to add spark to your campaign
Auckland City Mission are a charity always in need of donations and support, but unlike other charities who rely solely on the annual street collection, these guys get interesting and always come up with an engaging, fun way for people to get involved. Their 2010 Winter Appeal has just kicked off, and with the use of Social Media - and a little help from their friends - they're set to gain donations from a whole new set of Aucklanders.

The AdSchool students take out Student Newspaper Awards
Last Thursday night saw the advertising industry celebrate creative use of newspapers, with the Newspaper Ad of the Year Awards. As well as awarding industry on the night, advertising students went head to head for the Student Newspaper Ad of the Year and the Student Topical Ad of the Year.
