The Academic Advisory Panel reviews and contributes to the academic quality and viability of Media Design Schools academic programmes by providing insight, information and support. They also assist with programme development, outcomes and evaluation to ensure the school continues to fulfill its mission through the provision of highly relevant qualifications for the creative and technology industries.

    Dr Dave Hodges

    Dr Dave Hodges is an Education Management Consultant, based in Wellington, New Zealand. He brings almost 15 years of governance/tertiary education management experience, skills and knowledge to his consultancy work . Dave previously held a range of management positions at Unitec Institute of Technology. His most recent position was Executive Officer, which involved supporting the Chief Executive with strategic planning and development, and undertaking Council Secretariat duties. Prior to this Dave was the Manager of the Academic Quality Office. He has been a member of a number of NZQA external accreditation panels and is currently an external evaluator for NZQA. Dave’s qualifications include a PhD and a Master of Educational Management (Hons). Dave is an experienced researcher, having authored and co-authored around 40 quality assured publications - books, book chapters, journals, & conference proceedings. He is the founder and current editor of the Asia Pacific Journal of Business and Management. During his career, Dave has held a number of Governance/Council roles including: New Zealand representative on the Board of Governors of the World Association for Co-operative Education (work-integrated learning); Chairperson of the Council of the New Zealand Association for Co-operative Education (NZACE); Deputy Chair, Board of Trustees, Northcote College, Auckland. In 2010, he was awarded Honorary Life Membership of NZACE.

    Professor Catherine Walthard

    Professor Catherine Walthard is currently Deputy Head of HyperWerk, the Institute for Post-Industrial Design at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Northwestern Switzerland, which she co-founded in 1999. She has over 25 years of teaching and directing experience in art education in Switzerland and presents lectures and workshops in Europe, Australia and New Zealand. Catherine’s professional activities extend to collaborations with theaters and art galleries and she also contributes as a jury member in art and university committees. The work ranges from fine arts drawings to multimedia productions that have received international awards and prizes. Since 2010 she has been working on a research project based on the importance and essential implementations of cultural experiences in design education. This collaboration by international design school teams of students and teachers is due to release the first publication at the end of 2012.

    Alberto Bonisoli

    In addition to being the Dean of one of Italy’s leading fashion institutes, Domus Academy in Milan, Italy, Alberto is also the Director of International Academic Affairs and non-degree programs of Laureate Italian Art and Design Education (LIADE). Alberto contributes to the growth of Design Education by assuring academic quality and student satisfaction. He supports new programme development and fosters internationalization for Domus Academy and NABA (Nuova Accademia Di Belle Arti). Alberto previously held a range of management positions including Director of International Programs at Bocconi Business School, Senior Expert at the Ministry of University and Research for Internationalization of Art and Design Education and Senior Advisor to the Ministry of Education in Turkey and the Russian Federation. Alberto’s qualifications include a BA in Innovation Management and an ITP in Management Education.
